…To knit patterns that I really, really want to knit…

…To find a bit more happiness, peace, time & freedom in my life…

…To find honesty with myself when I need to make tough decisions within my life…

…To finally be allowed to take a step back from life and BREATH

Normally, I can never keep the resolutions I make every January.  But this year, I’m going to try really hard to change that.  I’m excited about the resolutions I’ve made for myself.  I’m ready for what this year might bring, even if that means forcing me out of my “comfort zone” a time or two.  So, here’s to a new year and new beginnings!  🙂

Busy Bee

Where has the summer gone?!?  I’ve been so super busy at my job and at outdoor chores (gardening, repairs, etc.) that I haven’t had as much time for my knitting.  However, next week is a vacation week for me and I plan on finishing my Ombre Cardigan (which is almost done… about 85% of it anyway) as well as to knit my dad a super chunky ribbed scarf.  (why not get started on all those Christmas presents now..?!)  Plus, I’ll be staining the deck, repainting parts of the house and I’m going to try to sneak in a mini day trip to Schoodic Point/Bar Harbor.  Whoo… I have a feeling my vacation is going to be a blur.  lol

I’ll be posting progress pictures of my cardigan in a week or so, along with a few pictures of the yarn I just ordered from Tanis Fiber Arts.  I already have a few Fall projects in mind that I’m just itching to knit, but more on that next week.  🙂

TGIP: Where’s the snow?

This was the view from my window this morning.  Normally, there is at least a foot of snow on the ground by the beginning of January, but not this year.  A couple of snow showers yesterday has only left a light dusting of snow on the ground and according to the Weather Channel, there are no major snowstorms in sight.  I never thought I would ever utter these words, but…. Where Is All The Snow?!?!?  If it’s winter and cold, then at least let us have a few good snowstorms to bury us in for a few days.  Plus, snowstorms mean I get time off from work and more time with my knitting.  See, there is a method to my madness!  🙂

In knitting news, I completed a project last weekend and have yet to take some nice FO shots.  I’m hoping to get those pictures this weekend as well as starting a new project tonight.  The #103 Luscious Cabled Cowl by Sweaterbabe is the newest pattern I’m drooling over.  After completing the gauge swatch last night, I’m hoping to have this cowl complete by next week.  It seems to be a fairly quick knit and the pattern stitch is super easy.

I decided to take a break from knitting and focus my creativity on carving a jack-o-lantern for Halloween. It has been years since I’ve carved a pumpkin and after a quick Google search, I found a nice selection of free jack-o-lantern patterns (both easy & difficult) on HGTV. Of course, I opted for an easy pattern, not realizing how easy it was going to be. And I also had to choose the largest pumpkin I could find, which made the “cleaning out” process a lot more time consuming than I originally thought it would be. But, the result was completely worth it. Take a look!

This was so much fun, that I might carve the smaller pumpkin next weekend.  I’m thinking a cat/moon design….
